After week five of the regular season there are still three former NC State players starting at quarterback in the NFL along with other former members of the Pack on the special teams and defensive side of the ball.
Here’s how the Packs pros fared this week:
Jacoby Brissett, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts
Brissett led the Colts to a 26-23 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers to move to 2-3 on the season. He threw for a career-high 314 yards and tallied 22 out of 34 completions. Brissett was responsible for one interception in an attempted pass over the middle which was returned for 29 yards but was not converted for points.
Although he did not throw for a touchdown in the matchup, Brissett used his legs in the win, rushing eight times for 14 yards and contributed a 3-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Colts a two-touchdown lead.
Philip Rivers, Quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers
After what appeared to be a miscommunication on the snap between Rivers and his center which resulted in a safety early in the game, the Chargers settled in and earned their first win of the season against the New York Giants, 27-22.
Rivers threw for 258 yards despite only completing 21 of his 44 pass attempts. Rivers was also responsible for throwing one interception and three touchdowns, including a 10-yard pass to Melvin Gordon to seal the win for the Chargers.
Russell Wilson, Quarterback, Seattle Seahawks
Russell Wilson contributed to the Seahawks 16-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Wilson threw a single touchdown in the second quarter and an interception in the second quarter that was returned for 69 yards and a few plays later converted to a field goal. Wilson was 24 of 37 pass attempts for 198 yards.
Stephen Hauschka, Kicker, Buffalo Bills
Steven Hauschka contributed 10 points in the Bills 20-16 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hauschka was 3-3 on kicks and was responsible for the Bills’ only points scored in the first, third and fourth quarters, including his longest kick on the day of 38 yards.
Dontae Johnson, Cornerback, San Francisco 49ers
In the 49ers’ overtime loss to the Colts, Dontae Johnson tallied eight tackles. Of those eight total tackles, Johnson showcased seven solo tackles and one tackle for a loss.
