As the current NC State football team thrives on Saturdays, let’s take a look at how former NC State players are faring on Sundays after week six in the NFL.
Jacoby Brissett, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts
The Colts lost to the Tennessee Titans 36-22 in Monday Night Football. Brissett completed 21 of 37 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown. He did not throw an interception and was not sacked. He rushed five times, totaling 15 yards on the night. Early in the second quarter, Brissett threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jack Doyle which gave the Colts a 10-6 lead. The Colts took over on offense with 5:29 to go in the fourth quarter, trailing by a touchdown. Brissett led the Colts to the 13-yard line of the Titans, but was stuffed on a fourth down run. The Titans took over and scored an insurance touchdown, effectively ending the game.
Philip Rivers, Quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers won their second game of the season, 17-16, over the Oakland Raiders. Rivers threw for 268 yards and completed 25 of 36 passes including one touchdown. The Chargers were trailing 16-14 when they took over with 4:09 to go. Rivers led the team down the field with passes of 34 and 23 yards, both to tight end Hunter Henry, to get the team in field goal range where Nick Novak kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired. Rivers started the fourth quarter comeback with 10 minutes to go when he connected with running back Melvin Gordon on a 6-yard touchdown pass to put the Chargers in the lead.
Dontae Johnson, Cornerback, San Francisco 49ers
Johnson had three tackles and one pass break-up in the 49ers’ 26-24 loss to Washington. Johnson now has 29 tackles and three pass break-ups through six games.
Josh Jones, Safety, Green Bay Packers
The Packers lost 23-10 the Vikings, but Jones continued his solid rookie season with two tackles and now has 25 on the season, including two sacks.
