After a season of turmoil came to an end in 2009, a new chapter began in the women’s basketball program. Coach Kellie Harper joined the Wolfpack in April of last year and hit the ground running upon her arrival in Raleigh, beginning with recruiting.
The season started with mixed results until the Pack hit a snag, losing six of nine conference games. But Harper and company righted the ship, beginning with a two-point victory over Miami on Hoops 4 Hope night.
The team rounded out the season with four wins in five games, including a Senior Night defeat over No. 22 Georgia Tech.
The Wolfpack Women demolished any doubtful expectations with an improbable run in the ACC Tournament, grinding out three wins in three
days before falling to powerhouse Duke. The quasi-Cinderella team of the ACC tournament was knocked out in the opening round of the Big Dance by UCLA, even with ACC Freshman of the Year Marissa Kastanek at guard.
But with a 20-14 record and an impressive run in the post-season, all of which came under the guidance of a revamped coaching staff, the Wolfpack Women are deserving of a B+
