CHARLOTTE – Announced by NC State on Tuesday, graduate guard Eric Lockett will be reinstated to NC State men’s basketball team.
Lockett was arrested in February for assault on a woman, his girlfriend at the time, but the charge was dismissed. He also went through a campus review before the final decision was made.
“The campus review of Eric Lockett’s case is complete and no disciplinary actions will be taken,” said Fred Demarest, Associate Athletics Director, in a statement. “With both the legal and campus reviews concluded, and based on information available to us at the current time, Eric has been reinstated to the NC State men’s basketball team.”
According to The News & Observer, Demarest said Lockett will not play in the ACC Tournament but is likely to join the team while it is in Charlotte.
Lockett will add some much-needed depth to the team when he returns, playing 16.9 minutes per game and averaging 5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
