The NC State women’s golf team traveled to Browns Summit to compete in the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park and finished third out of 18 teams.
The field of teams consisted of seven in the top 50, five being ACC schools. Third is the best finish for the team in a prestigious tournament, shooting a two-over 866 on the weekend. Its score is also the best so far this season.
NC State finished four shots behind UNC-Chapel Hill in second place and 36 strokes behind No. 12 Wake Forest, who took first place easily. The Wolfpack also beat out the ACC schools of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
All five Pack golfers competing on the team finished inside the top 36, showing great achievement in the field of 94 participants. Its best this weekend was senior India Clyburn who finished tied for 8th with a score of 215 (-1) including a team-low round of 69 (-3) on Friday.
Seniors Naomi Ko and Laura Kowohl both tied for 12th with a score of 217 (+1). In tied for 18th, junior Mim Sangkapong, shot a 219 (+3) this weekend capped off by an even round on Sunday, the team’s lowest day-three round.
Clyburn, Ko, Kowohl and freshman Lea Klimentova, who tied for 33rd with three others, all shot a 74 (+2) on Sunday, slightly dragging down their placements. Sophomore Monika Hartl competed as an individual in this tournament, shooting a 226 and placing tied for 40th.
After this great outing, NC State with turn its attention to the ACC Championship in Greensboro at Sedgefield Country Club from April 18-20.
