The NC State track and field team competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, with five members of the Pack picking up All-American status.
Senior Gabriele Cunningham and junior Elly Henes both competed in two events, with junior Cravont Charleston, redshirt senior Lauren Evans and freshman Jamar Davis competing in one.
The Wolfpack garnered five All-American honors on Friday, with Cunningham leading the way with two of her own.
Cunningham placed 11th in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.34, good for a second-team All-American nod. In her other event, the 60-meter hurdles, Cunningham came in 13th with a time of 8.14. This finish also earned Cunningham a spot as a second-team All-American, the second year in a row she has garnered All-American status in the 60-meter hurdles.
In the 5,000-meter run Friday night, Henes joined Cunningham as an All-American, gaining second-team honors after finishing in 14th. Her time of 16:20.65 made her an All-American in the event for a second straight year, after taking home first-team honors a year ago.
On the men’s side, Charleston finished one spot off a trip to the finals in the 60-meter dash Friday night. Charleston earned second-team All-American with his time of 6.64, putting him in ninth place for the event.
In the field, Evans ended her collegiate indoor career with a 13th-place finish in the shot put. Her throw of 15.90 meters gave her second-team All-American status.
On Saturday, Davis placed 12th in the triple jump final. Davis’ longest jump registered at 15.50 meters, as he reached a second-team All-American finish in his first year of competition.
Henes picked up her second All-American nod Saturday night, finishing the 3,000-meter run in 9:25.67, good for 16th place.
