Last Thursday, NCSU police seized three firearms and ammunition from a student’s 2013 Toyota Forerunner located in the Dan Allen parking deck.
Police said that they believe that there was no immediate threat to campus, WRAL reports.
According to the search warrant, Christian Dorr, a second-year studying business administration, was checked into the UNC Health Care Addiction Treatment Center at Wakebrook by his mother to be evaluated due to multiple issues over the past few weeks. Dorr’s mother then disclosed to the UNC Wakebrook Police that Dorr had recently purchased three firearms in the past three weeks.
Kaylla McNeill, NCSU Police campus detective, received the information from the UNC Wakebrook Police on March 7 and located the vehicle registered to Dorr on the same day. Police executed the search warrant that evening.
“In plain sight inside the vehicle, I was able to locate multiple firearm boxes, one large ammunition storage box, one pair of hearing protection, and one exposed rifle scope,” McNeill said. “Under the vehicle tire on the outside of the vehicle was one green spent shotgun shell.”
The firearms found when the police searched the vehicle included two semi-automatic rifles, a pump action shotgun and at least three boxes of ammunition.
The warrant also said that a digital scale, grinder and multiple pieces of smoking devices were found as well.
According to Reg 06.05.01, firearms are prohibited on all university property and Endowment land.
