NC State softball (17-14) is traveling to Boston College (10-17) this weekend for another ACC series against the Eagles. After falling in a shutout to Florida State, the Wolfpack was able to build back its momentum by defeating UNC-Wilmington 3-2 Wednesday evening.
Coming off of a weekend series win against Syracuse, Boston College was on a winning high before falling to UMass in a midweek game.
KEY PLAYERS – NC STATE
Sophomore infielder Logan Morris pushed the Wolfpack to victory against the Seahawks when she went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. With a slugging percentage of .584, Morris has become an offensive key to NC State’s success this season.
Junior utility player Brigette Nordberg is batting .360 this year with 13 home runs and 32 hits. Nordberg not only has given the Pack a secret weapon coming up to the plate, but she has also become a stellar defensive player with 32 putouts tallying a .944 fielding percentage.
Junior outfielder Angie Rizzi gave NC State the go-ahead to the win over Wilmington with a solo homer and one RBI. Even though Rizzi has struggled more offensively this season, she has made up for it in the field giving way to 39 putouts.
KEY PLAYERS – BOSTON COLLEGE
Outfielder Lexi DiEmmanuele currently leads her team with a batting average of .360 with 32 hits and nine RBIs. DiEmmanuele had a successful series weekend against the Orange with a steady rally of two hits each day.
Catcher Emme Martinez has been another key player for the Eagles sporting a .488 slugging percentage with six doubles and two home runs this season. Behind the plate, Martinez has a solid fielding percentage of .945 while throwing out one runner caught stealing.
Infielder Gianna Boccagno is currently holding the highest slugging percentage on the team and most home runs for the season with a .526 with six homers. Adding another leaderboard position, Boccagno also is the front runner for the Eagles in putouts for the year with 134.
NC State will kick off its series against Boston College Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Harrington Athletics Village. In ACC series play the Wolfpack is currently 0-2 while the Eagles are 1-1.
