The NC State gymnastics team swept its senior night quad-meet which included George Washington along with Texas Woman’s College and Arizona with a score of 196.100 in Reynolds Coliseum Saturday.
The Wolfpack (12-4, 5-1 EAGL) placed first in all four events and in the all-around category. The Pack outscored EAGL George Washington (196.100-195.250), Arizona (196.100-195.050) and Texas Woman’s (196.100-193.500).
The team score was only just below the team’s best score of the season, 196.400. The team had a new high beam score of 49.175. The Pack did very well on the other three events scoring 49.125 on the floor, 48.950 on the vault and 48.850 on the bars. The team had nine podium finishes.
Junior Drew Grantham had a notably great night, placing first in vault, bars, beam and all-around. On the floor, Grantham placed second following teammate senior Alexa Phillips.
On the vault, Grantham tied for first with Arizona, 9.900, tying her career high. Sophomore Lauren Kent scored a new career-high of 9.700. Senior Paris Phillips tied her season-high of 9.800.
Scoring 9.800 to tie her season-high, Grantham placed first along with teammate Maggie Tamburro and Arizona on the bars. Senior Caitlyn Fillard tied for fourth place with four other gymnasts with a score of 9.775.
Grantham solely took first place on the beam with a new career-high of 9.900. Kent placed second with a score of 9.850 along with two opposing gymnasts. Freshman Alliah Harrison tied her career-high of 9.825.
Alexa Phillips finished first on the floor with a tie for her career-high of 9.900. Grantham tied for second along with Arizona, scoring 9.875.
Grantham finished first all-around with an overall score of 39.475. Kent followed in third with a cumulative score of 39.075. Fillard placed fourth, scoring 39.025.
The Wolfpack will have its last meet of the season against West Virginia, Penn State and Ohio State next Sunday, Mar. 17 in Morgantown, West Virginia at 2 p.m.
