The NC State baseball team will return home from Boston to take on Coastal Carolina Wednesday evening.
After coming off a loss in its series against Boston College this past weekend, the Wolfpack (29-4, 12-3 ACC)returns to Doak Field in preparation for the Chanticleers (22-11-1) who are coming off a series win against South Alabama.
The loss against Boston College marks the fourth for the Pack, who kept a tight third game against the Eagles despite dropping 3-1.
As for the Chanticleers, despite winning two out of their three games against South Alabama, they dropped two games out of their three-game series against Arkansas State and dropped both of their games against Illinois, bringing their record to 22-11-1 and 8-4 in their conference.
Top-hitter for Coastal is junior Scott McKeon, who has a batting average of .346 and has totaled 47 hits in the season. Senior Kieton Riversis also influential for the Chanticleers, getting 35 runs on 42 hits and having a batting average of .362.
Both junior infielder Will Wilson and head coach Elliott Avent were awarded with mid-season honors this past weekend, Avent being named one of D1 Baseball’s top coaches, and Wilson was given All-America honors by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game.
The Pack faced Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC earlier this season, winning 7-6 in extra innings on a home run from sophomore catcher Patrick Bailey. First pitch for the rematch will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Doak Field.
