The NC State men’s tennis team is set to compete at the ACC Championships this week in Cary. The Wolfpack (17-9, 12-4 ACC) comes in ranked 22nd in the nation and are the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
It will be the first time since 2013 that the Pack has earned a top-four seed and a double bye in the championships. The squad will begin action on Friday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals. The opponent the Pack will face is to be determined, facing the winner of No. 5 Miami, and either No. 12 Clemson or No. 13 Boston College.
Coming into the tournament, the Pack defeated No. 25 Miami Sunday on senior day by a score of 4-1. This allowed the Pack to lock up the double bye and four seed in the tournament.
It was an impressive regular season for the NC State men’s tennis team, especially in ACC play. The Pack finished with eight ACC wins, a program single-season record.
Junior Alexis Galarneau has been the top player for Pack this year posting a 15-7 record overall and 7-4 in the ACC. Galarneau will have to keep his high-level play up in order for the Pack to win the championship because of the weight he carries for the team.
Action for NC State will kickoff Friday in Cary at 9 a.m. If the Pack advances, semifinal and championship action can be found on the ACC Network Extra.
