Walk the Moon has been announced as the headlining act for Wolfstock, NC State’s annual concert held on the last day of classes.
Brianna Murphy, a second-year studying genetics and the UAB concerts and entertainment chair, said that after looking at several different artists, the process of getting Walk the Moon to perform at Wolfstock was an easy experience.
“Walk the Moon came up as an option for us, and we thought that the NC State community would really enjoy that,” Murphy said. “[It took] three to four months to get everything together and get them contracted.”
According to Murphy, the band signed within the past two weeks, allowing UAB to announce the music act to the university on Friday evening.
“So far, just working with them has been really great,” Murphy said. “They’ve been really receptive and everything worked out good.”
The event will be held at 6 p.m. on the last day of class, April 26, at Stafford Commons.
According to Murphy, Wolfstock will have many activities and events that night with Walk the Moon performing at 8:30 p.m. that evening. The event will be free for all students to attend.
The cost of the event, compared to previous homecoming concerts, is higher because there is no revenue from ticket purchases. UAB received additional funds from the canceled 2018 Wolfstock and Homecoming concerts. Murphy could not provide additional details of the expenses at the time of publishing.
“We did have slightly more money than the average Wolfstock concert just because the circumstances that arose with the other concerts,” Murphy said.
Murphy said that she hopes students are excited about the end-of-year event.
“I just hope it’s a way to wind down after the long semester, a way to meet new people, enjoy the concert and to have a good last day of class,” Murphy said.
