NC State gymnastics team placed third in the second round of regionals, scoring 195.400 for its second consecutive year in the postseason.

After overcoming New Hampshire 195.150-194.900 the No. 31 Wolfpack advanced to the second round of regionals, a quad-meet with No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 15 California and No. 28 Maryland.

The Wolfpack had a consistent night on all four events: the vault (48.800), bars (48.850), beam (48.900) and floor (48.850). Despite such a strong night for the Pack, it wasn’t enough to overcome first-place Oklahoma (198.300) and second-place California (196.750). The Wolfpack was able to outperform Maryland 195.400-194.650.

Senior Caitlyn Fillard and junior Drew Grantham both scored 9.800 on the vault, followed by teammate senior Alexa Phillips who scored 9.750. Close behind were sophomores Lauren Kent and Katie Cox who both scored 9.725.

During the first round of regionals, Alexa Phillips and Grantham tied for first place with a score of 9.800. Fillard had tied for third against the Wildcats (9.750).

After placing second on the bars in the first round, Fillard finished her routine with a 9.850 to tie her season high.

Kent (9.800), senior Maggie Tamburro (9.775) and freshman Meredith Robinson (9.750) also helped to lead the Pack on bars.

On the beam, sophomore Kasey Nelson led the Pack with a score of 9.825. Sophomore Nicole Webb and Grantham followed closely behind Nelson with 9.800 each.

Against the Wildcats, Grantham (9.850) and Webb (9.825) placed first and second, respectively, on the beam.

Alexa Phillips (9.875) and Grantham (9.800) led the Pack on the floor. Kent tied her career high of 9.775.

Grantham had previously tied for first along with teammate Webb in the first round of regionals, each scored a 9.825.

The Wolfpack finished its season strong with all-arounder Kent leading the Pack with a solid 39.050. Grantham and Fillard followed with a 38.500 and 38.225, respectively.
