According to a survey conducted by Gallup, alumni of the UNC System have reported high satisfaction with their education and overall strong well-being, in some cases beating national averages.
Approximately two-thirds of UNC System alumni and 70% of NC State alumni agreed that their education was worth the cost, which is over 10% higher than a national comparison. About 70% of UNC System alumni agreed that they had a professor that made them excited to learn, compared to 64% nationally.
UNC System alumni were also far more attached to their universities and reported a higher sense of well-being than national groups.
The survey was conducted by email, targeting UNC System schools’ alumni with bachelor’s degrees that graduated between 1940 and 2018, and received about 77,000 responses. The national comparison group was based on surveys conducted by Gallup of alumni that graduated between 1940 and 2016, and included public and private institutions.
UNC System Interim President Bill Roper said the goal of the survey was to show the effectiveness of an education through UNC System universities.
“The results show that our alumni are more engaged, better prepared and lead more purposeful lives compared to the average college graduate,” Roper said.
