Coming off a successful first weekend of ACC matches, the NC State women’s tennis team will be at home on Wednesday for a match against its rival UNC-Chapel Hill, which is currently the top-ranked team in the nation.
The No. 11 Pack (10-2) defeated Virginia and Boston College over the weekend; the Tar Heels (13-1) took down Boston College and Michigan on Friday and Sunday respectively.
Junior Adriana Reami has been hot for the Wolfpack as of late in singles. She’s won eight straight matches, along with two ranked wins out of the eight.
On the doubles side of things, No. 10 junior Anna Rogers and freshman Alana Smith have been the best of the best for the Pack this season. The two big things that stand out for the two is their 19-2 overall record thus far and 6-0 against ranked doubles opponents, things you want to see going into a match against the top team in the country.
With a 2-0 start in the ACC, the Pack has its best start in 20 years. Only Duke and the Tar Heels are ranked above the Pack in the ITA Tennis Rankings.
The Pack has protected its home court thus far, coming into this match undefeated on their home court of J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center with a 6-0 record and looking to make that 7-0 tomorrow.
UNC-Chapel Hill will be a very tough test for the Wolfpack. The Tar Heels come in with five singles players ranked, with four of them being ranked in the top 30.
Their only loss on the year has come at a neutral sight against Georgia, a team the Wolfpack lost to earlier in the season.
The match on Wednesday looks to be a good one and will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The match will be viewable on gopack.com under women’s tennis.
