No. 8 NC State Wrestling (14-2, 2-0 ACC) will face off against the No. 16 Pittsburgh Panthers (8-3, 0-2 ACC) this Sunday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack will enter the contest riding a five-match winning streak and an overall stellar record, which has earned it its top-10 spot in the NCAA rankings.
NC State’s season has thus far seen it post a solid resume, with four wins against ranked opponents. The two losses against such foes came in a tough road matchup against No. 2 Ohio State and a heartbreaking loss on criteria to No. 18 Wyoming, the latter of those two occurring at a neutral location in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the South Beach Duals Tournament.
The Panthers will start the contest with an impressive record of their own, with their few losses all coming against ranked opponents: No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 12 Virginia Tech and No. 17 North Carolina, chronologically.
After their 8-0 start, it will be interesting to see whether Pittsburgh can turn its fortunes around after suffering its three losses of the season consecutively. Additionally, with the Wolfpack having won its latest five matchups, such a reversal of momentum will be all the more difficult for the Panthers.
NC State is also undefeated at home this season, boasting a 9-0 record in Reynolds. The Pack will certainly look to continue to capitalize on that home field advantage.
The match will begin at 1 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 10 at Reynolds Coliseum.
