NC State baseball continued its undefeated streak with 10-1 a win against Campbell University on Wednesday evening in Buies Creek.
Both teams started out with a slow first inning, however the Wolfpack (8-0) took a jump into the lead with three runs in the second inning.
Sophomore outfielder Terrell Tatum started out strong for the Pack, scoring the first run of the game and hitting the first home run of his career. Freshman infielder Vojtech Mensik and outfielder Tyler McDonough also scored in the second inning, bringing the Pack to a 3-0 lead over the Camels.
Getting his team-leading fourth home run of the season, senior infielder Evan Edwards scored for the Pack and brought the score to 4-0 in the third inning. Later in the third, Matthew Barefoot scored for Campbell off a double down the right-field line by Luis Gimenez. It was the only run of the night for the Camels.
The Wolfpack took advantage of two errors from the Camels in the seventh inning, allowing both junior infielder Will Wilson and sophomore outfielder Jonny Butler to score, bringing the lead to 7-1.
NC State pitchers held the Camels to one run and a total of three hits overall. Junior pitcher Alec Barger made his first start for the Pack and pitched for 2.2 innings before sophomore pitcher Evan Justice took over. Sophomore pitcher Reid Johnston took the ball in the fourth and did not allow a single hit over three innings of work.
Edwards would go on to score three more times in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings, contributing four out of the 10 runs for the Wolfpack.
Two RBI singles from McDonough and junior catcher Brad Debo helped Edwards and sophomore catcher Patrick Bailey score, allowing the Wolfpack to sweep Campbell 10-1.
Both Tatum and Debo collected three RBIs, a season high for both players.
The Wolfpack will continue nonconference play at home on Friday with a series against Minnesota.
