NC State volleyball was dealt a sweeping 3-0 blow from Georgia Tech at O’Keefe Gymnasium. This was the Pack’s second loss to Georgia Tech this season.

The Wolfpack (11-17, 6-10 ACC) struggled against the Yellow Jackets (18-8, 11-4 ACC) throughout the entire match, falling even further behind each set. The first set at 25-18 was the Wolfpack’s closest set. The Pack lost the second set 25-17. The third set was a crushing defeat for the Pack, 25-12.

As a team, the Pack was outplayed by the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech offensively had nine more kills and four more assists. Tech’s defense was able to successfully block three more times and had three more digs. The Wolfpack had a final hitting percentage of .244, which was significantly lower compared to the Yellow Jacket’s .456 hitting percentage.

Individually, some members of the Wolfpack were able to compete with Tech’s top players.

Junior opposite hitter Melissa Evans along with sophomore outside hitter Jade Parchment scored 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Compared to the Yellow Jackets’ top hitters, Evans and Parchment are on par with outside hitter Mariana Brambilla who had 14 kills and middle blocker Kodie Comby who had a total of 11 kills.

Evans and Parchment along with redshirt sophomore libero Kaylee Frazier held the back row together. The three players combined for 25 digs. Similarly, the Yellow Jacket’s top three receivers had also covered 25 of the team’s 37 digs.

The Wolfpack’s top blocker against the Yellow Jackets was redshirt freshman Nina Sharpton with two blocks. Sharpton was only outdone by the Yellow Jacket’s blocker Kodie, who produced four blocks over the three sets.

Another downfall for the Pack was errors. Over the course of three sets, the Pack picked up 15 errors. The Yellow Jacket’s kept a tight and clean performance to only have five errors.

With only two games left in the season, the Wolfpack returns home for its next match against Pittsburgh at Reynolds Coliseum this Sunday at 1 p.m.
