The NC State men’s and women’s cross country teams are headed to Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend to run in the NCAA Southeast Regional with hopes to get automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships.

The women will race first, taking part in the 6K and the men will follow with a 10K race. In the past, the Pack women have won the meet every time dating back to 2016 and are the favorite to take home the title again this year. Coming off another ACC Championships victory, the women were ranked No. 5 in the polls.

In both races, the top two teams will receive an automatic bid to compete in the NCAA Championships that will take place next weekend. The Pack men won its regional last year and will look to do the same this year to earn the automatic bid.

Senior Elly Henes will be the Pack’s top runner as she has been all year after taking home first place at the ACC Championships two weeks ago. Freshman Kelsey Chmiel finished fourth in the race and has finished top 15 in her three races this year.

For the men, the Pack will lean on junior Ian Shanklin who finished third at the ACC’s along with redshirt junior Gavin Gaynor who crossed four spots behind at seventh.
