On Sunday, the NC State volleyball team will look to avenge its loss earlier in the season to Pittsburgh as it takes on the Panthers in Reynolds Coliseum at 1 p.m.
It has been an up-and-down November for the Wolfpack (11-17, 6-10 ACC), which is 3-3 in the month and has won every other game. Its last match resulted in a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Georgia Tech.
Pitt (26-1, 15-0 ACC) comes into the match with the best conference record in the ACC and is currently ranked No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25. The Panthers swept the Wolfpack 3-0 back on Oct. 20 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Panthers lead the ACC in almost every major statistical category, including hitting percentage (.279), assists per set (13.58), kills per set (14.6) and service aces per set (1.49). This will be a tall task for the Pack, which ranks 13th in hitting percentage (.199), ninth in assists per set (11.73), 10th in kills per set (12.48) and 13th in service aces per set (1.07).
If the Pack has any chance to win, it needs a big performance from opposite hitter Melissa Evans, who leads the team in points per set (3.91) and kills per set (3.52). She will line up opposite middle blocker Sabrina Starks of Pitt, who is second in the ACC in blocks per set (1.42).
The match will be broadcasted on ACC Network Extra.
