The NC State softball team recently signed seven new additions to its team in what has become a talented 2020 signing class. Signees include shortstop Jayci Chamberlain, pitcher/1B Estelle Czech, infielders Haley Haislip and Kaylee Lambrecht, pitcher Brooklyn Lucero, utility player Laine Marak and utility player Gracie Roberts.
Jayci Chamberlain
Hailing from La Plata, Maryland, Chamberlain was a two-sport athlete in high school playing both volleyball and softball.Rated as a top-150 positional player in Extra Inning Softball’s 2020 rankings, Chamberlain was a four-year varsity shortstop who helped lead her team to back-to-back Maryland 2A State Championship titles in 2018 and 2019. In her junior season, she had a .431 batting average recording 28 hits with 27 RBIs including six doubles, four triples and five home runs. Chamberlain received First-Team All-Conference honors in 2019 after receiving an honorable mention for the award in both 2017 and 2018.
Estelle Czech
Estelle Czech is a versatile player and pitcher who is ranked the 22nd pitcher in her class, recording a 1.60 ERA and 232 strikeouts during her junior year at Downers Grove North High School. Ranked in the top-50 recruits in Extra Inning Softball’s Extra Elite 2020 100 player rankings, Czech also received All-Conference and All-Area pitcher honors during her first three years in high school. Czech is also a very strong hitter recording a .432 batting average and a .528 on-base percentage her junior year along with seven home runs.
Haley Haislip
Infielder Haley Haislip, a Raleigh native, is a force at the plate with a .535 career batting average and a .626 on-base percentage. She has 111 RBIs and 27 home runs in just her first three seasons. As one of the top players in North Carolina, Haislip received her team’s offensive MVP award as a freshman, Most Outstanding Player award as a sophomore and MVP as a junior as well as All-State honors all three seasons of high school.
Kaylee Lambrecht
Kaylee Lambrecht hails from Jacksonville, Florida where she helped lead Oakleaf High School to a state championship in 2016. A three-year varsity starter, Lambrecht was ranked as a top-75 positional player in Extra Inning Softball’s 2020 Rankings, earning 8A First-Team All-State honors her sophomore and junior years as well as All-County honors as a sophomore. In her second season, Lambrecht had a .350 batting average with 35 hits and 26 RBIs including 11 doubles and two triples.
Brooklyn Lucero
Pitcher Brooklyn Lucero has an overall 16-2 record and 1.29 ERA playing for Lakewood Ranch High School out of Tampa, Florida.She earned First-Team All-State honors as a sophomore and junior and is rated as one of the top-70 pitchers in the 2020 class by Extra Inning Softball. Her high school team finished as the Florida State Runner-Ups with a No. 6 national ranking and her travel team, the Tampa Mustangs, is currently ranked No. 2 nationally. As a junior for Lakewood, she had a 0.68 ERA and 52 strikeouts.
Laine Marak
A multi-sport athlete, Laine Marak ran track along with playing volleyball, basketball and softball for Rosewood High School. A North Carolina native, Marak is a three-time All-Conference honoree and a two-time MVP in 2017 and 2018. She’s led her team in RBIs and home runs all three years recording 73 career RBIs and 16 career home runs. She also plays for the Lady Lightning travel team and helped her team win the 2018 NC Powerade State Games.
Gracie Roberts
Another multi-sport athlete Gracie Roberts excels in softball, field hockey and track for Tabb High School in Virginia. Last season Roberts was named her team’s MVP and she also received First-Team All-Region honors. In 2018, her team was undefeated and won the Virginia 3A state title. In only 20 games played that season, Roberts had a .444 batting average with 20 hits and 16 RBIs.
Wolfpack softball’s class of 2020 is a very diverse and talented group of girls. They’ll each finish their high school careers at their respective schools and will join the Wolfpack ahead of next season.
