The NC State rifle team had its final competition of the fall on Saturday and Sunday against No. 5 Akron and No. 2 West Virginia. On Saturday, the No. 7 Wolfpack (3-3) fell to Akron by a score of 4675-4631. Then on Sunday, it lost to the Mountaineers 4710-4666.
Despite the loss to West Virginia, the Pack scored its second-highest team score of the year with 4666. Sophomore Emily Fisher had the Pack’s best performance over the weekend with an aggregate shooting of 1,166, but that was not her best as she turned in a career-high 1,175 aggregate and a career-high 588 in smallbore.
Freshman John Peterson had a near-perfect score in the prone position with a score of 198. In air rifle, senior Claire Zanti was a point away from a career-high with a score of 587 against Akron and freshman Makenzie Sheffield posted a career-high score 593 against West Virginia.
This concludes the Wolfpack’s fall schedule and will be back in action for the Winter Airgun Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. from Dec. 6-8.
