NC State volleyball looks ahead to face Clemson and Georgia Tech this weekend at Reynolds Coliseum in hopes of breaking its three-game losing streak.

The Wolfpack (8-14, 3-7 ACC) has been in a slump for most of the season, not able to overcome most of its opponents. The Clemson Tigers (10-11, 4-6 ACC) and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (14-7, 7-3 ACC) are two strong teams within the ACC that the Pack will face a lot of difficulty playing against.

In the past, the Wolfpack has only defeated Clemson nine out of 32 matches. Last season, the Wolfpack fell to the Tigers 3-1. Against the Yellow Jackets, the Pack has had an even harder time. Of 32 matches, the Pack has only managed to win eight of them. Last season, the Pack was dealt a 3-0 loss.

Last season, junior opposite hitter Melissa Evans was the main scorer against both the Tigers and the Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately due to Evans’ injury, other members of the Pack will have to step up in the upcoming week.

The Tigers still have their lead scorer from last season’s win over NC State, outside hitter Brooke Bailey who scored 20 points, nearly a whole set’s worth. And defensive specialist Emily Curtis who picked up 16 digs, twice as much as the Pack’s libero had.

The Yellow Jackets’ main outside hitters, Mikaila Dowd and Mariana Brambilla, are also returning this weekend. Each scored 13 points during the last match against the Wolfpack.

Being such a young team, the Wolfpack will be in for a challenge this weekend against two veteran-laden teams.

The Wolfpack will face Clemson this Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Georgia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
