The NC State softball team is set to take on the North Carolina Central Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Dail Softball Stadium starting at noon. The Pack is coming off two straight wins and has yet to lose a game this fall, going 3-0-1.
The Wolfpack’s offense so far has been led by senior outfielder Angie Rizzi. Rizzi has seven hits in four games this fall, including a big two-run home run against UNC-Chapel Hill on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Another hot bat in the Wolfpack lineup has been junior outfielder Sam Russ. Russ had an important bases-clearing triple against Elon on Saturday, Oct, 5 that helped lead the Pack to a 9-2 win.
On the pitching side of things, sophomore Sydney Nester has been one of the more impressive arms NC State has put in the circle. Nester pitched in both games this past weekend with an impressive eight strikeouts against a strong Tar Heel lineup that had put up 11 runs the day before. This set the tone for the Wolfpack bats that led to the 5-4 win.
This will be the Eagles’ second-to-last game of the fall. The Eagles have a seven-game fall schedule with the last three games all being road games against UNC, NC State and Duke University. The Eagles fell to the Tar Heels 11-1 last Saturday.
