The NC State men’s soccer team will remain home Tuesday to take on East Tennessee State in what will be a welcome break from ACC play.
After two impressive ACC wins for the Pack against then-No.17 Louisville and Notre Dame, the Pack will have a chance to continue its winning streak against the Buccaneers (3-4-2) before jumping back into its brutal ACC schedule.
NC State (6-2-1, 3-1-0 ACC) has been finding success in recent weeks, outscoring opponents 4-1 in the past two games and sitting with only one conference loss to then-No. 5, now No. 1 Virginia.
The Pack will need to continue outscoring its opponents and improve its record to prepare for tournament play, which only sits one month away.
The Wolfpack will be led in the attack by sophomore forward Kuda Muskwe, who was able to push the Wolfpack into the lead against Notre Dame. Joining him in the attack will be juniors defender Jamie Smith and midfielder David Loera, each netting two goals for the Pack so far this season.
The defense will be led by redshirt senior goalkeeper Vinnie Durand, who has led the Pack for a majority of the season after taking over for injured junior goalkeeper Leon Krapf. Durand has helped lead the Pack to victory, only allowing one goal in the past two difficult games.
The Pack defense will need to keep an eye on Buccaneers leading scorer forward Hauk Andreas Fossen, who has four goals for the season as a freshman.
This game serves as an opportunity for the Wolfpack to fix any issues it may be having before jumping back into conference play. Shortly after battling the Buccaneers, NC State will host No. 3 powerhouse Wake Forest Friday at home in what is sure to be a difficult battle for the Wolfpack.
The match against ETSU is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dail Soccer Field.
