The NC State volleyball team fell in straight sets to Florida State Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum for its fourth loss in its last five matches.

The Wolfpack (6-11, 1-4 ACC) wasn’t particularly competitive in any set, losing 25-18, 25-12 and 25-19 to a Seminoles (10-4, 4-1 ACC) squad that is 8-2 since Sept. 7.

NC State fell behind early 14-6 in the first set and was never able to muster a comeback, going down quietly.

The second set saw the Wolfpack show some life, battling back and forth with the Seminoles at the beginning of the match, finding itself down only 8-7 after the first 15 points. But it was all Florida State for the remainder of the set, with the Seminoles outscoring the Wolfpack 17-5 the rest of the way.

In the last set, the Wolfpack again put up a small fight early but was ultimately outmatched against the more-talented Seminoles. Despite a brief 8-6 lead, NC State failed to force a fourth set, falling 25-19.

A rare down game from junior opposite hitter Melissa Evans was too much for the Pack to overcome, as Evans finished with just five kills.

Redshirt junior middle blocker Jessica Kemp paced the Pack with eight kills and three block assists, while senior middle blocker Lauryn Terry and sophomore outside hitter Jade Parchment each notched six kills.

Splitting time on the back line, senior libero Grace Irvin and redshirt sophomore libero Kaylee Frazier combined for 19 kills, with 12 and 7, respectively.

As usual, redshirt freshman setter Nina Sharpton led the Wolfpack with 26 assists, and freshman setter Kristen McDaniel picked up two.

The loss drops NC State into a three-way tie for 11th place in the ACC with Wake Forest and Virginia.

The Wolfpack will be back in action on Sunday when it takes on the Miami Hurricanes at 1 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
