Registration for the 16th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge run has begun. The race will be held Feb. 1, 2020. Since its inception in 2004, the event has raised a total of $1.6 million dollars for UNC Children’s Hospital, according to the event’s website.

To kick off the registration period, individuals who plan to participate in the run can take advantage of the Halloween Promo. The first 50 people to register for the race between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Halloween can receive $3 off their registration fees when they use the code “HALLOWEEN,” according to the race website.

Individuals can register for one of six different race categories: challenger, casual, no donut, challenger team, casual team and no donut team. Each option denotes a different race style. The challenger must eat all 12 donuts and complete the race in under an hour, whereas the casual racer may eat as few or as many donuts as they would like as they complete the 5 mile run.
