Jack Moorman, university chief of police, is set to retire from NC State effective Oct. 1, 2019, according to a statement sent over email from Dave Rainer, associate vice chancellor for environmental health and public safety.
Moorman has served as police chief since 2011 and is known for his involvement in events that helped improve NC State University Police’s visibility on campus, such as Coffee with a Cop and hot dogs in the Brickyard.
“Chief Moorman embodied the mission and the values of the badge he wears, and we are deeply grateful for his service to the University,” Rainer said in the statement.
Tom Younce, former university chief of police, will serve as interim chief while the department undergoes a national search for a new chief.
