As of Tuesday, Sept. 3, a hurricane watch is in effect for areas north of Surf City, N.C., extending to the Virginia border, according to a National Hurricane Centerupdate at 8:00 p.m.
Hurricane Dorian’s slow movement has forecasters concerned as to how the east coast and the Carolinas will be impacted. According to The Charlotte Observer, extended amounts of torrential rain and heavy winds are increasingly likely the slower the storm moves.
NC State University is currently under normal operation and based on current assumptions will remain that way, according to Emergency Management & Mission Continuity. Students will be updated of any changes to operation.
