As NC State prepares to welcome students back for the upcoming academic year, students will have a week-long opportunity to familiarize themselves with ways to get involved on campus.
According to New Student Programs, Wolfpack Welcome Week begins Friday, Aug. 16 and ends on Saturday, Aug. 24 with Packapalooza, NC State’s all-day block party featuring booths with student organizations, food trucks and live music.
Mitchell Moravec, student senate president and a graduate student in public administration, said the events offered during Wolfpack Welcome Week provide an assortment of activities for all members of the Wolfpack to enjoy while also engaging them with NC State’s campus.
“I’ve always seen it as the coming back to campus,” Moravec said. “While I do think it is kind of targeted to first-year students and their orientation to campus, it’s also a way for upperclassmen to start the year fresh, get energized again and maybe do things that they didn’t do their first year, like joining student organizations.”
According to New Student Programs, Welcome Week allows new students to quickly become acclimated to campus and get involved with NC State traditions. Some of the signature events include Recfest, the Moonlight Howl & Run, College Connections and Convocation.
“The signature events are always great, whether that’s Recfest or Packapalooza, but events like the open houses at places like the Craft Center or University Theater are ways people can engage with something new,” Moravec said.
Students are able to download a mobile guideto help them navigate the daily activities. Students may also add the Wolfpack Welcome Week activities to their google calendar by clicking here.
“I think all students should download the university guide app and look at the calendar, because it’s the easiest way to find out what is going on and what’s new,” Moravec said.
