The NC State men’s and women’s track and field competed this past weekend at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia. This was the Pack’s fourth meet of the season thus far. On the second day of the meet, the Wolfpack set their fifth school record of the 2018-19 indoor season in the women’s 4x400m relay.
The first day of competition saw four podium finishes and seven personal bests from the Pack. Redshirt sophomore Dominique Clairmonte and junior Elly Henes ran times of 4:38.55 and 4:38.75 respectively in the mile and finished one, two on the podium. Those times are the third and fourth-fastest times in the nation and are No. 2 and No. 3 in the history of NC State women’s track and field.
In the men’s mile, redshirt sophomore Joe Bistritz posted a career-best time of 4:04.39 and finished in second place.
In the women’s weight throw event, redshirt senior Lauren Evans recorded a throw of 62’3” (18.97m) and placed in second.
The second day of competition saw the aforementioned school record in the relay, along with six podium finishes and six ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships qualifying marks.
The women’s school record 4×400 relay posted a 3:45.57 time and finished second in the event. The relay team included sophomore Alexis Postell, senior Gabriele Cunningham, freshman McKenzie Long and sophomore Jada Griffin.
In throws, Evans finished first on the podium in the women’s shot put with a 54’4” (16.56m) mark.
Sophomore Von Douglas competed in the men’s long jump and posted a 24’7” (7.49m) jump to garner a second place finish on the podium.
The NC State men’s and women’s track and field teams will return to action this Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26 at the BU Terrier Classic in Boston, Massachusetts and at the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
