The No. 8 NC State women’s basketball team continued its undefeated run with a 68-60 win on the road against Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Wolfpack has taken sole control of the ACC after UNC-Chapel Hill defeated Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (13-7, 3-4) tied the game at 52 with 7:35 left before the Pack (20-0, 7-0) went on an 8-2 run to take the lead for good.
Freshman forward Elissa Cunane led the Wolfpack with 17 points on eights shots and chipped in six rebounds off the bench.
Graduate guard Kiara Leslie added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists but picked up her fourth foul with 8:24 left in the fourth quarter. The Pack was able to go on the game-deciding run with Leslie on the bench.
Sophomore guard Kai Crutchfield chipped in 12 points while junior forward Erika Cassell scored nine points.
NC State won the game despite 18 turnovers by using the 3-point shot. The Pack went 9 of 22 from behind the line, despite its best shooter, junior guard Aislinn Konig going 2-9 from three. Leslie went 4-5 from distance while Crutchfield hit two threes.
The Pack also went 17 for 23 from the free throw line, led by Cunane’s 7-of-9 performance.
Elizabeth Dixon led the Jackets with 17 points and Elizabeth Balogun chipped in 14. Francesca Pann also scored in double figures with 10.
The Wolfpack continued its run of excellent defense by holding the Yellow Jackets to 34 percent shooting and 25 percent from behind the 3-point line.
NC State will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 31 as the team travels to Winston-Salem to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The game will tip off at 7 p.m.
