For the first time in 24 years, the NC State women’s soccer team had a player earn All-American honors as senior midfielder Tziarra King was named to the third team on Thursday night. The last player for women’s soccer to be named All-American was Thori Staples Bryan in 1995.
This is not the first honor that King has picked up this season, with the senior, who will be graduating this month with a 4.0 GPA and a nutritional science degree, also being named to the All-ACC and All-Region teams as well as CoSIDA’s Academic All-America First Team.
King racked up 32 points (13 goals and six assists) this season, helping her team earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship for the fourth year in a row and reach the Sweet 16 for the third time in four years. Across her career King has recorded 115 points (48 goals and 19 assists) in 88 career games for the Wolfpack.
The 115 career points rank King third in program history behind just Charmaine Hooper and Laura Kerrigan. King also ranks third in total goals and cracks the top-10 in starts, games played and assists.
The All-American honors and stellar senior season are the last few pieces on King’s already impressive resume and the midfielder looks to have the ability to take the next step and go pro after graduation.
