After being off for over two weeks for the holidays, select members of the No. 6 NC State wrestling team will be back in action for the annual Southern Scuffle on Jan.1-2 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Noted as one of the top in-season collegiate wrestling events in the country, this will be a huge opportunity for Wolfpack wrestlers to improve their ranking and compete amongst the best in the nation.
In its last action on Dec.13, NC State defeated Appalachian State on the road 24-12. This will be the third individual tournament of the season for NC State, with the other two being in Charleston, South Carolina and Las Vegas.
The Wolfpack will look for better individual performances after underperforming in Las Vegas against many other ranked opponents.
NC State will be competing with 28 other schools across the country including Rutgers, Virginia, Oklahoma State, UNC-Chapel Hill, Oregon State, Stanford and Navy, to name a few.
NC State is sending 17 wrestlers, from all 10 weight classes, to the invitational, including the Hidlay brothers, redshirt junior Hayden Hidlay, and redshirt freshman Trent Hidlay, who are both ranked No. 2 in their respective weight classes of 157 and 184.
The matches will start Jan. 1 at 10 a.m. Live updates can be seen on Twitter by following @PackWrestle.
