The NC State women’s basketball team beat the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 74-38 in Reynolds Coliseum Thursday night. Here are some important numbers from the final nonconference game of the year.
24 – The points NC State scored off its 19 turnovers forced, meaning almost a third of the team’s points came off turnovers. NC State turned the ball over 10 times.
36 – The number of bench points scored by NC State. 12 players saw the floor, showing the team’s depth, and the bench was led by redshirt senior guard Grace Hunter and freshman forward Jada Boyd, who scored 14 and 11 points respectively.
30 – Freshman guard Jakia Brown-Turner’s plus-minus while she was on the court. That means while she was on the floor, NC State outscored Chattanooga by 30 points, leading the team in that category by one point over graduate guard Kaila Ealy.
18 – The number of seconds Chattanooga had the lead the whole game. All 18 seconds occurred with Chattanooga up 5-4 in the first quarter.
19 – The rebound differential between NC State and the Mocs. NC State came out on the high end and was led by sophomore center Elissa Cunane’s seven rebounds. Junior forward Kayla Jones, senior forward Erika Cassell and Boyd had six each.
28 – The number of second-chance points NC State scored. With the rebound difference, the Pack was able to collect a lot of points after a missed shot. Chattanooga could not compete with NC State’s height and physicality.
23 – The most points NC State scored without allowing any points in return. The 23-0 run happened in the second quarter, while the Pack also had a 17-0 run in the second half, keeping the game well out of reach.
22 – The number of assists NC State had on 29 made baskets. That’s a ratio the Pack will certainly want to keep up as it goes into ACC play. Ball movement is so hard to stop, and the Pack will have success.
11 – The most important number of all. This is the number of wins NC State has earned to start the season. It’s the second year in a row NC State women’s basketball has strung together more than 10 wins to start the season.
