After a tough weekend matchup for the No. 8 NC State women’s tennis team, the Pack came out with a 1-1 record after falling to No. 7 Texas and dominating Kansas.
The Wolfpack is now sitting at a 9-1 overall record, making its Saturday loss its first loss of the 2020 season.
NC State vs. Texas
Friday afternoon NC State hosted the highly-ranked Longhorns and the ladies were taken down in a head-to-head battle, 4-3. But, in highlight news, senior Adriana Reami became the first NC State women’s tennis player to reach 100 singles wins and continued her 10-match win streak.
While the Pack was alleviated in the singles sector of the match, senior Anna Rogers, sophomore Alana Smith, junior Jaeda Daniel and Reami quickly took control of the doubles matches.
Rogers and Smith overcame their opponents with a score of 6-3, while Daniel and Reami finished out with a final 6-1 count.
NC State vs. Kansas
Coming back from its first loss, the Pack was ready to compete against Kansas, collecting a dominant 6-1 win over the Jayhawks.
This Wolfpack team has become the fifth squad in history to open out its season with a 9-1 record so far. Taking all finishes for wins in the doubles department, all but one NC State competitor won their singles matchups.
Up next NC State will head to Chicago to compete in the ITA National Indoor Team Championships this coming weekend, beginning on Friday.
