Margaret Spellings, former secretary of education and current president of the UNC System, visits NC State as a part of her tour of the UNC School System. Spellings tour of NC State included stops at Hunt Library, a lunch relating to business relations, the ASSIST center, Daniels Hall and Talley Student Union.
At Talley Student Union, Spellings was greeted by student protesters gathered on Stafford Commons. After discussing their opposition with Spellings taking the position of president of the UNC public university system, Spellings then met with student leaders for a closed door meeting as the protestors reconvened in the lobby of Talley Student Union.
Travis Herrington, a sophomore majoring in english, and Chloe Holland, a sophomore majoring in animal science, color the trans flag to protest Margaret Spellings's visit to NC State's campus on Wednesday, April 20th. Protesters gathered on Stafford Commons and then in the lobby of Talley Student Union to show their opposition to Spellings taking the position of president of the UNC public university system.
