The slogan is posted around campus urging students to vote for the former Student Senate president.
Quick, a senior in biomedical engineering and political science, said one of his biggest priorities is building trust with the student body and the administration.
“I bring to the table an understanding of where Student Government has been and where it’s not been,” he said.
Quick was defeated in last year’s race for student body president by Whil Piavis, the Pirate Captain, in a runoff election.
During his year off, Quick worked extensively with Compassion in Action and Greek Life.
He said the time made him realize that “Student Government needs to get back to things students can see and things students can hear about.”
Quick said the body has lost its perspective on issues that students would like to see resolved.
“Being inside, you have the goggles on that you can’t get off,” he said. “You can’t see what’s important to the average student.”
According to Quick, Piavis encountered a lot of tension from other branches and members of Student Government, which was ultimately useful because it helped to highlight issues that need to be resolved within the body.
“We need people like Whil to help make the necessary changes,” he said.
The tension wouldn’t exist next year if he is elected, Quick said, because of his past experience with the body and working relationships with many of the students that serve.
Quick said he plans to champion affordability at the University. In addition to tuition and fees, he plans on exploring creative ways to cut costs for the University like new technology.
Another of his initiatives deals with encouraging the University to recognize the power in being a student.
After graduation, Quick said he is still deciding between medical and law school, but he favors attending medical school.
