John Lee, a junior in biochemistry, Trey Jones, a senior in eco-systems management and Katherine Tew, a junior in environmental technology, lost their lives over winter break.
Lee was found dead in his Wolf Village apartment Dec. 30, apparently of a seizure, according to WRAL. A UNC medical examiner would not officially comment on Lee’s cause of death, adding that the time of death could not be determined because he was found.
Friends of Lee remembered him as an intelligent, but shy, individual.
“He kept to himself, but if you talked to him, you would find out he was a really great, funny guy,” Andy Cornwell, a former high school classmate of Lee’s and freshman in electrical engineering, said.
Cornwell, who also ran cross country in high school with Lee, said, he “loved staying after practice with him and joking around.”
Jones, a brother of Delta Sigma Phi, was also an Eagle Scout, according to his obituary in Winston-Salem Journal.
“Trey was an outdoorsman who lived life to the fullest,” Allen Harrington, a fraternity brother of Jones and a junior in mechanical engineering, said. “He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.”
Tew passed away in her home Jan. 1. The cause of death was not mentioned in her obituary.
