Sidney Lowe’s second game as coach will take place Friday night at 8 p.m. in the RBC Center against a veteran squad that returns all five of its starters from a team that went 21-14 overall and 16-2 in the MEAC last season.
Delaware State (1-1) started out last season 2-10 before going on to win 19 of its next 23 games. The Hornets’ season ended on a loss to Louisville, 71-54, in the National Invitation Tournament.
So far this season, the team has won its season opener against St. Paul’s 90-53 on Nov. 11. Three days later they lost to Pittsburgh, the No. 5 team in the country, 67-50.
In two games this season, Delaware State has forced 32 turnovers while only allowing 38 assists. Last Friday against Wofford, N.C. State (1-0) limited itself to only nine turnovers while totaling 23 assists. The Wolfpack also caused 13 turnovers in the game.
The men’s game will be the second part of a doubleheader with the women’s team. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. against UNC-Wilmington and the men are scheduled to start two hours later.
The game will be the first-ever match up between Delaware State and State.
After tonight’s game, the Pack have a pair of home games within the next week, one on Tuesday against Valparaiso at 7 p.m. and then one next Friday against Gardner Webb at 7 p.m.
