I just can’t…it’s not like it matters anyway.
I like leaving my computer on all night. That way, when I get up, I can read any IMs that someone may have left me between 3 a.m. when I got off of it and 7 a.m. when I got up. Besides, my roommate doesn’t turn his computer off and we’re only two people in the whole campus, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Plus, I’ve been doing it ever since I’ve had a computer — even when I was at home I used to leave my computer on all the time and my mom never complained about it sucking up the light bill and draining her checking account.
Not to mention if I leave it on, it means I never have to wait for it to start up — which can be quite an involved process.
Our room is so cool, too. You have to see it. We have rope lights going around the whole ceiling and Christmas lights around the posts on our lofts. We can keep them on all the time and at night, it blends in perfectly with our light-blue “Fish in a Tube” thingy that we got from Spencer’s and our Bud Light neon sign illuminating from the window.
We have the hottest room on the hall. From outside, you can see the lights coming from the window which only makes it look so much better.
Oh, did I mention we have two really cool screen savers? Mine is The Matrix code running down the screen but my roommate’s is really awesome — if you watch the pink bubble long enough you start to see green bubbles move around them. It’s really fun at 4 a.m. after we just get in.
But sometimes, my roommate and I get so sick of school that we just play Halo or CounterStrike until sunrise. You never know when you’re gonna feel like playin’ it so we just leave it on all the time — ready to go.
Sometimes we watch movies on our plasma TV. But the coolest part is we have a 6.1 surround sound system where the speakers are hiding throughout the room so if someone gets caught in gunfire, it sounds like it’s coming from under the bed. You can’t beat that.
The only problem is sometimes we fall asleep with it on and have to restart it when we wake up. But that’s cool because we each keep a fridge next to our couches that way we don’t have to go to the C-Store before we get started.
***Ladies and Gentlemen, this student is a reason why NCSU’s power bill is soaring through the roof. You, like this one, will be forking out more money unless you do something very simple. There is no mom here, but that doesn’t give you an excuse to act like child. Turn off the lights, TV and your computer.
It’s just that easy.
