GymnasticsPack set for regionals
The gymnastics team, just off winning the EAGL Championship this past weekend, will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on April 14 in Morgantown, W. Va.
No. 22 N.C. State is seeded fourth in the region, which includes No. 5 LSU, No. 8 UCLA and No. 17 Auburn as No. 1, 2 and 3 seeds, respectively. The region also includes West Virginia and North Carolina.
The top two teams from each of the six regions around the country will advance to the national championships, along with the top two all-around competitors who are not on an advancing team. The nationals will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 26 – 28.
This is State’s 15th trip to the NCAA Regional Championships in the past 16 years.

SoftballTeam to participate in ceremony at Cancer Benefit Game The 2006 ACC Champion softball team will throw out the first pitch in a ceremony at the Peace vs. Meredith softball games Wednesday at Peace College. The ceremonial pitch, called the “first pitch to strikeout cancer,” will take place between doubleheader games. The games are part of “Breast Cancer Awareness Day,” which Peace is hosting.
The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the second is set for 5 p.m. Along with the softball team, other special guests scheduled to attend include Durham Bulls mascot Wool E. Bull and Hurricanes mascot Stormy.
Both Peace and Meredith will wear pink jerseys to support the cause.
