Horror movies will never go out of style. Why is that? Because if we’re crazy enough to invent a genre that will terrify us and stressed us out ON PURPOSE, then we’re probably crazy enough to keep enjoying it.
Of course, if there’s one thing college students know how to do besides party, avoid homework and imbibe liquor, it’s probably watch a bunch of movies. If you find the Hillsborough Street or Franklin Street scene to be just not enough, or there’s a TV right next to that chemistry assignment that you just have to bite the bullet and do, consider one of the movies on this list to complete your All Hallows Eve night.
Alien: Horror movies are often identified by their ability to take things people are comfortable with and make them into something terrifying. I applaud Ridley Scott for making a sci-fi movie appear so distinctly calm and subdued, as if the crew of the Nostromo were on some deep sea fishing exploration as opposed to a deep space freight-liner. This is where it all began, before Aliens or AVP turned the franchise into an action series, there was just the one Alien and the foreboding darkness of space on all sides. A must for all movie fans, and a personal favorite just because every time you think the alien is going to eat the kitty it eats a crew member instead.
