Former Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and namesake of Talley Student Union, Banks C. Talley II, died peacefully Thursday.
Talley began his career at State in 1951 as the assistant dean of students and later served as the vice chancellor of student affairs from 1969 to 1977. Talley completed his undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating in 1950, after completing his U.S. Army service in the Philippines during World War II. However, he was a lifelong member of the Wolfpack after joining NC State.
Talley Student Union, which completed renovations in 2015, is a major hub on campus at NC State. More than 10,000 students pass through Talley Student Union each day.
It is undeniable that Talley left a lasting impact on the NC State community.
