In an article published by Money Magazine, NC State was ranked the top college in North Carolina. The ranking is based on another analysis by the magazine of more than 700 colleges around the United States, which ranked NC State the 50th best value university nationwide.
Among the factors informing the annual analysis are enrollment data, data on student outcomes, net cost of attendance, average financial aid awarded and early career earning among institutions’ graduates. The career earnings were drawn from PayScale data on people who graduated in the past five years.
“In their first five years after graduating, N.C. State alums report average salaries that are 10% higher than students from similar universities,” said the article by Money.
According to the article, Money Magazine broke the rankings down by state because more than 80 percent of college students attend a university that is within 500 miles of their home, and a majority travel less than 100 miles.
NC State places well in other college rankings, standing out particularly among the crowd of public institutions. US News and Report puts NC State at number 38 among public institutions, and, in 2016, Kiplinger ranked NC State at 18 nationally for value for in-state students among public institutions.
