The No. 23-ranked NC State men’s soccer team lost 3-0 on the road to Syracuse Saturday night.
The Orange (7-4-4, 2-3-2 ACC) dominated all night, outshooting the Wolfpack (8-4-3, 3-3-1 ACC) 15-5 across the 90.
Syracuse started off strong with its first corner coming in the 10th minute of the game, and its first shot came just four minutes later. They continued to dominate possession and total shots, outshooting NC State four goals to two.
The Orange opened the scoring in the 36th minute with its fifth shot of the match. It finished the half outshooting the Pack 6-2. Although it did finish the half even in shots on target at two apiece
The Pack came out stronger offensively in the second half and it produced its first shot just three minutes in. The Pack’s strong attack opened it up for the Orange counter attacks and Syracuse scored again 18 minutes into the second half. The Orange continued to effectively counter attack the Pack scoring again just three minutes later to take a 3-0 lead.
The Orange would hold onto its lead for the rest of the game, with the final score remaining at 3-0. This was an incredible half by the Orange, where it outshot the Pack 9-3 and had five shots on goal compared to the Pack’s two.
Syracuse finished the game ahead of the Pack in almost every statistical category. It ended the game with more possession, shots on goal, total shots and corners.
The one bright spot in the match for the Pack was redshirt senior goalkeeper Vincent Durand who had four saves on the night, with three coming in the second half. This continues what has been a great season for him so far filling in for the injured junior Leon Krapf.
The Pack will face the No. 3-ranked Clemson Tigers Friday at home in what will be the final match of the regular season.
