The 2014 Shack-a-Thon returned to the Brickyard Sept. 22-26. The annual event, in which 20 student groups build and inhabit shacks 24 hours a day for 5 days, raises money for the Wake County Habitat for Humanity to build homes locally and abroad.

Capital City BikeFest returned to downtown Raleigh this weekend for the 10th consecutive year. Visitors to Fayetteville St. and the Ray Price Harley-Davidson dealership were able to see custom-made bikes, BMX demos, several concert performances, and motorcycle rallies.

The smell of freshly prepared chocolate confections wafted through the halls of Carmichael Gym Friday, Sept. 19, as students and visitors took part in the NC State Women's Center's Chocolate Festival. The annual event is hosted to raise funds for breast cancer research.
