Fellowship Advising Office Director Tiffany L. Kershner reviews an applicant’s essay who is applying for a study abroad grant. The Fellowship Advising Office offers guidance and connects students with extraordinary opportunities as well as funding for those opportunities such as scholarships for studying abroad, research or career work. Advisers read essays, provide comments, and help students improve their interview skills. The office is located on the second floor of Clark Hall.

The Career Development Center offers NC State students full access to the Wolfpack Styled Professional Clothing Closet that students may use for interviews, career fairs, conferences or the first week of work. The attire is generously donated by faculty, staff, alumni and employers to help students succeed. The clothing closet is open to students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Administrative advisor Heather Dellinger and student intern Madisen Anderson check in students in the lobby of the Career Development Center. The Career Development Center is currently offering online services, like workshops and advising appointments.

Lynn, a fitness group instructor, begins her yogalates class with a warmup exercise that engages the core and focuses on breathing. Yogalates is a hybrid course of yoga and Pilates. Yogalates utilizes the core coordination of Pilates, with the added flexibility of yoga to develop a well-rounded workout. Lynn says that "this time of the year the classes are usually full since people want to stick to their New Year's resolution." The class is one hour long and is offered Wednesday afternoons at 12:10 p.m. at the Carmichael Recreation Center.

The StateView Hotel, located on Centennial Campus, is currently under construction and is planned to be complete by the end of the summer. The hotel will feature 164 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar, fully equipped business and fitness centers.

This game, along with a handful of other activities, was open for everyone to celebrate the last day of classes.

Griffin Geiger, a freshman studying electrical computer engineering, tackles Jacob Lewis, a freshman in life sciences first year, as sumo wrestlers in Stafford Commons on April 28. Sumo wrestling was one of the many activities available for students to celebrate the last day of classes.

Students follow Union Activities Board on Snapchat to earn a free Last Day of Classes Festival t-shirt or hat at Stafford Commons on April 28. The Union Activities Board ran all the activities on Stafford Commons to help students celebrate the last day of class.

Emanuel Cruz, a junior studying nuclear engineering, aims to throw a dart to pop one of the balloons on the board in Stafford Commons on the last day of class, April 28. Students who successfully popped three balloons in a row were rewarded with a prize such as sunglasses or water bottles.

Alex Blaisdell, a junior studying aerospace engineering, slams down the hammer on the high striker challenge at Stafford Commons on Friday, April 28. Due to the physical aspect of the challenge, Blaisdell was one of the few students to hit the bell at the top.

Students, faculty and staff hunt for books during the Frank B. Memorial Book Sale in the Brickyard on Wednesday. All the books were donated and collected throughout the year from students, faculty and alumni. The Book Sale offers a wide variety of book genres, from thriller, to sports, to engineering. All proceeds of the Book Sale go to the NC State libraries to benefit students and faculty. The Book Sale is named after Frank B. Armstrong, who supported and donated to NC State. Last year, the Book Sale raised more than $15,000 and sold about 800 books.

Comedians Chico Bean and B-Daht perform laugh out loud improve at the start of the “Wild ‘N Out” comedy show in Talley Student Union State Ballroom on Friday. Bean and B-Daht each shared personal stories that kept the crowd laughing. The event was hosted by the UAB Black Students Board and involved a series of stand-up comedy, crowd engagement games and improv.

Comedian B-Daht warms the crowd up with some hilarious stand-up comedy during the “Wild ‘N Out” comedy show in Talley Student Union’s State Ballroom on Friday. B-Daht was the host of the show along with his fellow comedians Chico Bean, Darren Bran and Osama Bin Drankin’. The show not only contained stand-up comedy but also hilarious improv and a variety of audience participation in games.   

Aaron Keane, part-time lecturer and film and television music operator at Trailblazer Studios, says, "Our long-term goal is that we are able to start a music technology minor here at NC State." Keane teaches a digital audio songwriting course with a digital audio workstation. Equipment like the kind used in the digital audio workstation is worth over $10,000 and is available to students for free.

Tom Koch, associate director of the Music Department at NC State, helps to create courses that benefit students wanting to learn about music technology. Courses such as digital audio workstation, popular music and music industry began in about 2015. Koch and others are working on a few classes at a time in order to create an interdisciplinary approach to music. Students who choose to participate in these courses will have access to thousands of dollars worth of gear for free.

Senior guard Miah Spencer defends a Maryland Eastern Shore player during the game on Monday in Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack held the lead throughout the entire game and defeated Maryland Eastern Shore by a score of 77-58.

In Developmental Biotechnology: Embryogenesis, seniors Adam Miranda, studying genetics, and Meghan Porter, studying biological engineering, collect embryos from lower and normal temperatures to sample for protein. Miranda states that "by sampling for protein we hope to know how lower and higher temperatures affect the development of an embryo." A few of the subjects that are covered in the course include regulation of development, measuring gene expression, measuring protein expression by ELISA and epigenetic analysis.

Mark Sommers, a freshman studying engineering, practices his kick flips next to Wolf Plaza on Wednesday morning. Sommers has been skateboarding for four years and is constantly working on learning new tricks and meeting new skaters."Skating is what I have always enjoyed doing,” Sommers said. “I love being able to talk to all the other skaters on campus and learn from them." In addition to Sommers, many other frequent skaters go to Wolf Plaza to skate around and try some new tricks.

Bradley Chubb, a junior defensive end, runs out onto the field in Carter-Finley Stadium with his team. Chubb had two tackles during the game against Florida State. The Wolfpack lost the game by a score of 24-20 against the Seminoles.
