"I can tell you the day my people became free in this country. It was in 1862. We’ve been free for over 150 years. Has there ever been a time where white people could calculate how long they’ve been free? No,” said Ford.

"Some seem to think having one diversity conversation for 50 minutes per semester is more than enough, more than enough," said Dent.

Intramural flag football had its official season kickoff last week. Co-ed flag football alternates in requiring both sexes to be involved in a successful play for the ball to progress up the field.

Driscoll and three of her sorority sisters also began painting a section of the free expression tunnel with the message "Delta Zeta wants you to go Greek.” Rush for Fraternity and Sorority Life begins this Friday and will end Wednesday. "We are promoting and supporting recruitment for Greek Life as whole," Driscoll said.

A poultry compost barn smolders after being burned to ground on Aug. 15. The fire was reported by a driver passing by the farm at 2 a.m. that morning.

Pieces of tin roof from a poultry compost barn lie twisted and smolder over ashes of compost on Aug. 15. The tin will have to be moved later so workers can apply water to the compost and completely extinguish the fire.

An electric car-charging station stands in the Dan Allen parking deck on Sunday. These stations require an electric vehicle parking permit and have four-hour charging limits from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thomas Bullard, a freshman studying Exploratory Studies, and Matthew Sheldon, a freshman studying engineering, throw a dodgeball during a game of dodgeball at a cookout hosted by the SummerStart program. Summer START allows incoming freshman to enroll early during Summer Session two for five weeks of both academic and co-curricular activities. The cookout is one of the co-curricular activities that Summer START hosts to encourage students to mingle.
